Dorena is a 7.5 MW run-of-river hydroelectric project located in Cottage Grove, Oregon. The facility consists of a siphon house, a valve house, a powerhouse, a tailrace and an aeration system. Water accumulates in the Dorena Reservoir upstream from the dam and is released through an 8-foot diameter steel penstock into the powerhouse, where it is converted into energy using Francis and Kaplan-type turbines. This renewable power is then routed to Pacificorp’s main grid through an underground transmission line, where 100% of it is sold under a long-term power purchase agreement.
